[SMM Stainless Steel Flash] JISCO Successfully Mass-Produces 347H Stainless Steel Plates for CSP Applications

Published: May 22, 2026 11:00
JISCO has achieved a breakthrough in special steel rolling technology, successfully mass-producing 347H stainless steel plates (8mm × 2600mm) for molten salt storage tanks used in concentrated solar power (CSP) plants. Known as the "energy storage heart" of CSP facilities, high-temperature molten salt tanks demand exceptional heat and corrosion resistance. JISCO's self-developed 347H stainless steel delivers outstanding high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and intergranular corrosion resistance, reducing weld seams to enhance structural safety and service life of thermal energy storage equipment, supporting the large-scale growth of China's CSP industry.

[SMM Stainless Steel Flash] China Includes Stainless Steel in Strict Capacity Controls for First Time
China's MIIT has updated its capacity replacement regulations, bringing stainless steel under full regulatory oversight for the first time. The policy enforces a nationwide 1.5:1 replacement ratio, eliminating regional exemptions, with a 1.25:1 ratio applicable only for mergers. Cross-enterprise capacity trading will be banned after a two-year transition ending in 2028, with future transfers requiring structural acquisitions. Approvals lapse if construction does not begin within 24 months. The rules crack down on illegal induction furnace expansion, targeting the sector's historically sub-75% utilization rate. Output growth is expected to slow to 1–2% annually, driving out inefficient small producers while enabling some major mills to consolidate through reorganization incentives.

[SMM Stainless Steel Flash] Chinese Taiwan's Yusco Secures International EPD Certifications for Green Market Access
Chinese Taiwan's Yusco announced on 21st of May that its stainless steel product portfolio has received EPD certifications, covering carbon steel slabs and hot-rolled products, as well as austenitic and 400-series stainless steel slabs, hot-rolled, and cold-rolled products. The certification quantifies environmental performance across the full product lifecycle, an increasingly essential requirement for international market access as regulations such as the EU's CBAM take effect globally. Yusco has invested in process optimization and energy management to meet growing low-carbon supply chain demands, with the certification reinforcing its competitive position in the international green steel trade.
