Between May 7 and 8 local time, the US and Iran engaged in several small-scale military clashes in the area near the Strait of Hormuz. However, US President Trump subsequently stated that despite the renewed clashes, the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran remained in effect. Trump also revealed that the two sides were negotiating a one-page memorandum of understanding, and that the current negotiations were proceeding very smoothly. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei said that Iran was studying how to respond to the US-proposed "plan to end the war," and would announce the final outcome immediately once it was reached.
