CATL's Total Power And Energy Storage Battery Sales Exceed 200GWh In Q1 2026

On April 16, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) released its investor relations activity record. It mentioned that in the first quarter of 2026, CATL's combined sales of power and energy storage batteries exceeded 200GWh, of which power batteries accounted for approximately 75% and energy storage batteries accounted for 25%, marking a significant increase compared to previous quarters. Against the backdrop of declining sales in the domestic passenger car industry, the company's power battery shipments continued to maintain relatively fast growth, driven primarily by two key factors: first, the continuous expansion of market share; second, the steady increase in battery capacity per vehicle.

In May, both auto production and sales in China achieved MoM growth.

On June 10, CAAM released data showing that in May, auto production and sales reached 2.616 million units and 2.629 million units, up 1.6% and 4.1% MoM, respectively, but down 1.2% and 2.1% YoY, respectively. POSCO Holdings to Demonstrate Direct Lithium Extraction Technology in the U.S.

POSCO Holdings will become the first South Korean company to demonstrate direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology in the United States. The company announced on June 10 that it signed a cooperation agreement with Australian resource development company Anson Resources to build and operate a DLE demonstration plant in the Green River region of Utah, the United States. The demonstration plant is scheduled to be completed and begin operations in 2027. POSCO Holdings plans to complete technology validation using actual brine by 2028 and establish a foundation for commercialization.
