Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Paul Chan today (25th) delivered the government's fiscal budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year at the Legislative Council. He stated that the pilot production line for third-generation semiconductor chip R&D at the Hong Kong Microelectronics R&D Institute is expected to commence operation within the year, which will promote local chip R&D and industrial upgrading. In addition, the New-Type Industrialisation Acceleration Scheme has already supported two enterprises engaged in semiconductor chips and equipment development, with a total investment exceeding HKD 1.5 billion.
