Shandong Humon conducts open bidding for its selenium ingots on the 21st

SMM News, January 21: According to SMM, Shandong Humon has initiated a public tender for the sale of selenium ingots starting today. The selenium ingots comply with the standard YS/T 223-2007 (see attached test report) and are packaged in white iron drums. The total quantity of Se99-grade selenium ingots is 15,305.9 kg. Buyers are responsible for pickup and transportation costs, and must arrange transport using fully licensed hazardous chemical vehicles as required by national regulations. Buyers must complete the pickup by January 31, 2026. The delivery location is Shandong Humon Smelting Co., Ltd. (No. 11 Jinzheng Street, Shuidong Town, Muping District, Yantai City, Shandong Province). Sales contact: Song Jinguo, Tel: 13964596566.

Currently, the official starting bid price has not been disclosed. The seller will award the bid to the highest offer, and buyers are to specify their desired purchase quantity and bid price based on their own circumstances. If a buyer’s offer does not meet the seller’s reserve price, the seller reserves the right to reject the sale. To ensure timely submission, the quotation form, a copy of the bidder’s business license, invoicing information (with official seal), and the hazardous chemical operation license must be emailed to 95186930@qq.com by 11:30 AM on January 22, 2026. Bidders should also promptly contact Humon personnel to confirm receipt.

Market participants noted that selenium prices remain firm with an upward trend, and Shandong Humon’s release of this batch for tender could serve as a gauge of market demand. Given the relatively small quantity, the likelihood of a successful transaction is high. The final bidding price may reflect certain market conditions and provide guidance. SMM will continue to track and report on the progress of the tender.

[SMM Analysis]Global Tungsten Stays Hot Over Chinese New Year: Europe Tight, India Scrap Gains
Tungsten prices kept rising through the Chinese New Year. Europe saw higher quotes but few spot deals, with APT at $1,650+/mtu and ferro-tungsten hitting $205/kg. India’s scrap market stayed strong, with drill bits at $110/kg. In China, tight supply pushed APT long-term prices up by ¥200,000 to ¥1 million/t. Shortages persist, pointing to more post-holiday gains.

U.S. Considers Financing Major Tungsten Project in Kazakhstan to Diversify Mineral Supply Chains
[SMM Tungsten Express] The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation is considering financing the Severniy Katpar tungsten project in Kazakhstan. One of the world's largest undeveloped tungsten deposits, it holds over 10% of global reserves and is a JV between Cove Kaz Capital and Kazakh state miner Tau-Ken Samruk. U.S. officials called it a landmark investment in Kazakhstan's mining sector, aiming to diversify critical mineral supply chains and implement the U.S.-Kazakhstan critical minerals MOU signed in November 2025.
