South Korean battery equipment manufacturer PNT plans to begin production of LFP batteries and cathode materials from the first quarter of next year.
PNT’s annual LFP battery production capacity is 0.2 GWh, equivalent to batteries for around 4,000 electric vehicles assuming 50 kWh per vehicle. While the scale is relatively small, PNT has established an integrated system that directly produces battery materials—including cathode materials and copper foil—despite being primarily an equipment company.
The company’s annual LFP cathode material capacity is 6,000 tons, equivalent to approximately 2–3 GWh of battery cells. PNT plans to use the cathode materials in its own batteries while also pursuing external sales.
