[SMM Aluminum Express News] Morowali, Central Sulawesi – PT Hua Chin Aluminium Indonesia (HCAI) is setting a new standard for sustainable manufacturing within the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP). The company has implemented advanced Dry-Scrubbing technology to transform its production process, focusing on both efficiency and significant environmental improvement.
This system captures and purifies exhaust gases from aluminium smelting, specifically targeting the recovery of valuable Hydrogen Fluoride (HF). Instead of being released, these emissions are treated to reclaim HF, which is then reused in the production cycle. This creates a closed-loop system that reduces raw material consumption and minimizes environmental impact.
The results are measurable. The technology enables HCAI to achieve exceptionally clean emissions, with HF levels below 0.6 mg/Nm³ and dust under 3 mg/Nm³. Economically, the recovery process is highly impactful, saving the company approximately IDR 32.3 billion annually by reducing the need to purchase new aluminium fluoride.
This initiative demonstrates a successful circular economy model, proving that industrial growth and environmental stewardship can be achieved simultaneously in Indonesia's metallurgical sector.
