Changan Automobile logs 25% YoY jump in Aug. auto sales

Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Automobile) announced on Sept. 2 its August sales performance. The company sold 233,900 vehicles in the past month, which jumped 25% year on year.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. ("Changan Automobile") announced on Sept. 2 its August sales performance. The company sold 233,900 vehicles in the past month, which jumped 25% year on year.

In the first eight months of this year, the company's cumulative sales volume stood at 1,799,760 units, climbing 6.38% from that of a year ago.

In August, Changan Automobile's self-owned brands posted sales of 196,227 vehicles (+29.62% YoY), which resulted in a year-to-date sales volume of 1,524,558 vehicles (+7.98% YoY). Meanwhile, its new energy vehicle (NEV) sales came in at 88,947 units (+81.39% YoY) last month. In the Jan.-Aug. period, Changan Automobile sold 620,667 NEVs in total, representing a 55.92% leap year-on-year.

AVATR, the premium NEV brand co-developed by Changan Automobile, Huawei, and CATL, delivered 10,565 vehicles in August, which surged 185% year over year. It was the sixth consecutive month that AVATR recorded monthly sales above 10,000 units. Earlier in the month, the 70,000th unit of the AVATR 07 rolled off the production line at the company's smart factory.

Additionally, the automaker's mass-market NEV brand Nevo delivered 12,823 vehicles in August, while the DEEPAL brand delivered 28,235 vehicles in the past month.
