Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 30, 2025, Chinese battery manufacturer SVOLT, in partnership with Thailand's Banpu, celebrated a significant milestone at their joint venture factory in Chonburi, Thailand: the production of the 10,000th electric vehicle (EV) battery pack.

The Thailand facility, an essential part of SVOLT's overseas joint venture projects, is equipped with two production lines for CTP & LCTP/HEV and integrates eight major digital systems, including WMS smart logistics. This infrastructure ensures a 99.9% yield rate on the production lines. Additionally, 50% of the Thailand factory's operations involve automated testing processes, such as online OCV testing, plasma cleaning, CCD alignment, and visual inspection before and after welding, significantly reducing the defective battery cell rate compared to industry standards. Through the use of MES systems, the factory ensures full traceability from raw materials to finished products, and the inventory cycle for raw materials has been significantly shortened compared to the early stages of production.

Mr. Chen Lei, General Manager of SVOLT's Thailand Plant, commented, "The production of 10,000th EV battery packpack marks a major milestone in our strategic deployment in Southeast Asia. Based on the stable mass production of EV battery packs, we are accelerating the construction of energy storage assembly lines and plan to expand into markets for lightweight power solutions and energy storage tailored to Southeast Asia. Our goal is to provide full lifecycle services to our customers. The factory will also foster local talent through school-enterprise partnerships and work with Thai partners to create a pilot project integrating solar, storage, and charging infrastructure, driving a sustainable energy ecosystem. We will explore further collaborations to expand our EV battery and Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS) across the Asia-Pacific region, supporting local demand and regional supply chains.‌"

Mr. Smittipon Srethapramote, Banpu NEXT CEO, emphasized, "We are very proud to collaborate with a strategic partner like SVOLT to establish Thailand's leading battery manufacturing hub. This partnership merges our strengths in clean energy technology and local operational expertise, injecting innovative vitality into Thailand's new energy vehicle industry. With the introduction of advanced short-blade cell technology and an intelligent production system, our joint venture factory has already gained a significant advantage in quality and efficiency.‌"

Currently, the battery packs produced at the factory are widely used in many China-branded vehicle models sold in the Thai market, such as Great Wall Motor's ORA Good Cat, HAVAL H6 PHEV, and TANK 300 HEV. This achievement is made possible by Thailand's "EV 3.0‌" policy incentives for the new energy vehicle sector, as well as the excellent execution of the local team — Thai employees work closely with Chinese technical teams to ensure the successful local implementation of SVOLT's standards.

Since the commencement of construction, the joint venture project has advanced rapidly, with products already certified under Thailand's TISI standards and benefiting from the EEC tax incentives. The Thailand factory's strategic location near the Laem Chabang Port offers excellent logistical advantages, enabling it to serve the entire Southeast Asian market. As part of SVOLT's Asia-Pacific strategic development plan, the plant will continue to enhance local production capabilities, transitioning from current battery pack manufacturing to localized production of energy storage systems and battery cells, while exploring deep collaboration in the full-spectrum energy storage materials field.
