SAIC Motor sees monthly auto sales leap 41.9% YoY in Feb. 2025

SAIC Motor announced on March 2 its monthly auto sales reached 294,942 units in the second month of 2025, surging 41.9% from the previous year.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC Motor announced on March 2 its monthly auto sales reached 294,942 units in the second month of 2025, surging 41.9% from the previous year.

Of the vehicles the group sold last month, 86,142 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs), representing a year-on-year spike of 41.27%.

In addition, SAIC Motor also reported a volume of 67,771 vehicles for its exports and overseas market sales for the month of February, indicating an 18.36% growth over a year earlier.

Breaking down the sales figures by specific subsidiaries, SAIC Volkswagen sold 63,000 vehicles, which remained flat over the year-ago period. SAIC-GM recorded a 133.6% year-on-year surge in its Feb. sales, which stood at 31,536 units. SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company posted a 38.47% year-over-year growth with 45,599 vehicles sold. Besides, SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 128,000 vehicles in the same month, which soared 70.67% from a year ago. IM Motors logged a 43.25% year-on-year plunge with 1,135 vehicles sold in the same period.

For the Jan.-Feb. period, the group's total sales reached 559,108 vehicles, jumping 23.49% from the previous year.

On February 21, 2025, SAIC Motor and Huawei Device Co., Ltd. signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement in Shanghai. The partnership will focus on product definition, manufacturing, supply chain management, and sales services, aiming to co-develop a new generation of intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs) and enhance the smart mobility experience for consumers.

SAIC Motor stated that this collaboration will enable both companies to leverage their respective strengths, propelling China's automotive industry to new heights in the era of intelligent mobility. By deeply integrating their talents and resources, SAIC Motor and Huawei will explore technological and business model innovations, striving to create globally competitive smart vehicles that offer enhanced intelligence, convenience, and safety for users.
