Chery Holding logs record-high annual sales in 2024

Chinese automaker Chery Holding reported its 2024 annual sales reached 2,603,916 vehicles, hitting record high, and representing a 38.4% year-over-year jump.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese automaker Chery Holding reported its 2024 annual sales reached 2,603,916 vehicles, hitting record high, and representing a 38.4% year-over-year jump.

In December 2024, Chery Holding sold 298,505 vehicles, which also leapt 38.4% from the year ago period.

Chery Holding also achieved four other key records in 2024. Its annual revenue reached 480 billion yuan for the first time, zooming up over 50% year over year. The automaker's export volume stood at 1,144,588 vehicles last year, up 21.4% from the previous year. The company also sold 583,569 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in 2024, which skyrocketed 232.7% year on year. Chery's December NEV sales came in at 102,621 units, surpassing 100,000 units in a single month for the first time.  

Brand-wise, the Chery brand sold 168,319 vehicles (+30.4% YoY) in December and 1,611,374 units (+31.1% YoY) for the year, crossing the 1.6 million-unit mark for the first time.

The EXEED brand sold 12,521 vehicles in the past month, which added up to a yearly total of 140,959 units (+12.3% YoY) in 2024.

The JETOUR brand saw 57% year-on-year surge in December sales, which amounted to 66,202 units. In the full year period, JETOUR sold 568,387 vehicles, representing an 80.3% hike from 2023.

Chery's new energy vehicle brand iCAR sold 10,340 vehicles in December and 65,964 vehicles through 2024.

LUXEED, the premium brand jointly backed by Chery and Huawei, sold 17,736 vehicles in the last month of 2024, and 57,956 vehicles in the entire year.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) released data on the 10th showing that in May 2026, China’s NEV market stabilized and rebounded, with production and sales reaching 1.554 million and 1.496 million units, up 22.4% and 14.4% YoY respectively. The share of NEV sales in total new vehicle sales further rose to 56.9%. In May, China’s auto production and sales reached 2.616 million and 2.629 million units, up MoM and slightly down YoY, though the decline narrowed further. Overall, in the first five months, auto production and sales totaled 12.235 million and 12.207 million units, with NEV production and sales totaling 5.841 million and 5.802 million units, up 2.5% and 3.5% YoY respectively.

[Japan's May New Car Sales Edge Up Nearly 3% YoY] Data on vehicle registrations recently released by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association showed that in May this year, domestic new car sales in Japan reached 332,997 units, edging up 2.75% YoY. Sales in the same period last year were 324,069 units, up 10% YoY. By category, passenger car sales were 276,910 units, up 2.75% YoY, and truck sales reached 55,168 units, up 2.2% YoY.
