Australia Eyes 3.4GWh Energy Storage Facility Near Ipswich to Tame Excess Solar Power

[Australia May Welcome a 3.4GWh Energy Storage Power Station to Absorb Excess Photovoltaic Power Generation] Recently, Libra Energy in Queensland, Australia announced that it has submitted a development application for an 850MW/3400MWh, 4-hour battery energy storage project located near Ipswich in the southeast of the state to the planning department.

The project is situated near Rosewood, approximately 20 kilometers from Ipswich, covering an area of approximately 15 hectares. At present, the scoping study for the project has been completed and approval has been obtained from the grid operator. Currently, the project is undergoing feasibility studies and connection applications. If the approvals go smoothly, the project is expected to be operational by 2027.
