SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 33.74 million mt during April 27-May 3, an increase of 6.4% week-on-week. The shipments from Australia rose 8.1% on a weekly basis to 19.89 million mt, of which 15.49 million mt or 77.9% went to China, down 2%. The shipments from Brazil rose 3.6% on a weekly basis to 6.8 million mt, of which 2.79 million mt or 41% went to China, down 2.1%.
The four major mining companies shipped a combined 18.44 million mt of iron ore during April 27-May 3, an increase of 1.32 million mt from a week earlier.
The shipment of four major varieties totalled 32.87 million mt during April 27-May 3, an increase of 1.87 million mt from a week earlier.
Arrival data
A total of 23.09 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, down 17.73% week-on-week. The total amount of four varieties arriving at the port last week was 22.61 million mt, a sharp drop of 5.44 million mt from the previous week.
