As Ecuador enters a state of arms, will its copper production and transportation be affected?

Ecuadorian President Novoa has signed an executive decree declaring a state of "internal armed conflict" nationwide. The decree designates 22 organized crime groups as terrorist organizations and nonstate belligerents. The armed forces have been instructed to carry out operations within the framework of international humanitarian law. On the 8th local time, President Novoa declared a 60day state of emergency in the country due to recent frequent prison riots.

According to research by SMM, the production and transportation of Mirador copper mine in Ecuador, a subsidiary of Tongling Nonferrous, have not been affected. (Mirador isexpected to produce 120,000 metric tons of copper concentrate in 2024.）
