Solar Cell Makers Mulling Over Production Cuts To Cope With Sluggish Shipments

Last week, the shipment volume of solar cells decreased, the market was sluggish, and the inventory continued to grow, with solar cell prices dropping by 0.03-0.04 yuan/w. Currently, high-efficiency PERC182 solar cells price has dropped to 0.55-0.56 yuan/w, PERC210 solar cells price is around 0.58-0.60 yuan/w, and Topcon182 solar cells price has dropped to about 0.60-0.62 yuan/w. There was no change in solar cells price compared to October 19, mainly due to the small shipment volume and manufacturers of solar cells and PV modules have begun negotiating orders for next month, competition is fierce, and most manufacturers are observing, not adjusting prices at will. As most PV module companies had paused procurement last week, price competition will persist. However, with tight profit margins across the supply chain, there's little room for profit upward and sustaining high operating rates is challenging, making upstream price cuts inevitable. Amid these conditions, solar cell factories have started planning production cuts. October's scheduled production volume of 60.48GW may be this year's peak, with subsequent downward trends.
