Lithium Carbonate Prices Show No Signs Of Ending Downward Trend

SHANGHAI, Sep 21 (SMM) – SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate price index was 177,509 yuan/mt today September 21, down 3,249 yuan/mt from the previous working day; battery-grade lithium carbonate price range was 168,000-179,000 yuan/mt, down 3,000 yuan/mt from the previous working day; industrial-grade lithium carbonate between 157,000-165,000 yuan/mt, down 3,500 yuan/mt.

Recently, as the price of lithium carbonate continues to decline, some smelters have suffered losses, forcing some them to reduce production, thus the supply has declined slightly. However, due to the influx of a large amount of cheaper lithium salts into the current market, sell-offs still prevailed. And market players are bearish towards future lithium ore price. Therefore, in the short term, lithium carbonate prices may still maintain a downward trend.
