SMM statistics of PV module bid winning projects

SMM data reveals 24 PV module projects, from firms like DAS Solar, Tongwei, and Jinko Solar, won bids between 10th-16th July 2023, spanning 27 segments. 19 projects disclosed their installed capacities. The bid prices ranged between 1.34-1.4 yuan/watt, with a weighted average price of 1.36 yuan/watt, a 0.01 yuan/watt weekly rise. The total installed capacity of winning bids rose to 8222.29MW, a 3524.83MW weekly increase.

Huaneng Group's annual bulk purchase started on 8th May, with a price adjustment formula included in the bid quotations. Given its early and substantially different bid from the current PV module prices, it wasn't considered in last week's average winning bid calculation. Prices for PV modules from leading companies, typically around 1.3-1.35 yuan/watt, have now stabilised. This stability has reactivated end applications and boosted centralised projects.

According to the National Energy Administration, June 2023 saw a 140% YoY and 33.4% MoM rise in China's PV installations, totalling 17.21GW. In H1 2023, the cumulative PV installed capacity in China totalled 78.42GW, up 153.95% YoY. By June's end, national solar power output hit around 470 million kilowatts, a 39.8% YoY surge.
