SHANGHAI, May 11 (SMM) - According to SMM survey, 4 blast furnaces will be restarted in May, which will add pig iron output by 15,500 mt per day, while 8 blast furnaces will be overhauled, translating into a daily loss of 22,300 mt of pig iron output. SMM estimates that the pig iron output loss from blast furnace maintenance will rise 1.42 million mt MoM to 4.24 million mt in May.
No new blast furnaces were put into operation in April due to shrinking profits, and three blast furnaces were eliminated.
