Last week, spot discounts in Shandong remained at around 100 yuan/mt. Spot quotes moved down slightly from last Monday to Thursday. Some enterprises mainly sourced cargoes under long-term contracts, refraining from purchasing under small orders. Meanwhile, the copper prices rebounded to a high level, and the recovery of end-user consumption was slow, sidelining downstream processing enterprises.
Last Friday, spot quotes in Shandong rose slightly following prices in Shanghai. According to some sellers, smelters kept inventories in anticipation of higher spot prices, so the prices began to be raised at the end of the week.
Entering April, it is expected that consumption will improve, and spot quotes in Shandong will bottom out and rise.
