SHANGHAI, Mar 27 (SMM) - Last week, spot discounts in Shandong went all the way down to 130 yuan/mt, and rebounded slightly to 110 yuan/mt on Friday. Copper prices continued to move upwards last week. Due to the weak demand, downstream companies have reduced purchases, and spot quotes were falling all the way. Copper prices soared on Friday. Sellers who had low inventories after shipping cargoes to east China raised their quotes, citing weaker downstream purchasing interest amid higher copper prices. This helped spot quotes rebound slightly as well.
As copper prices have reached a high level, downstream demand will not be strong this week. It is expected that discounts in Shandong will stand at around 100 yuan/mt.
