Lead-acid Battery Scrap Supply Diverged in North and South China

SHANGHAI, Mar 6 (SMM) – In south market, warmer temperature and little disturbance from pandemic encouraged more people to travel, significantly boosting battery replacement. According to traders and secondary lead smelters, battery scrap supply was abundant in south China. Relatively low prices attracted smelters to step up purchases, even as their raw material inventories were already at a high level. Battery scrap recycling activities in north China and north-east China were constrained by cold weather. The recycling volume in Shandong and Henan was relatively high, while unstable production of some smelters hurt the demand for battery scrap.
