On January 23, 2023, Furnace No. 1 of the Zimbabwe Chromium Ferrochrome Production Capacity Upgrade Project was officially ignited and put into operation. The project was officially launched in 2022 with Hunan Shunfa providing all the funds. The project adopted the domestic mature semi-closed submerged arc furnace technology to upgrade No. 1 and No. 2 furnaces. The No. 2 furnace with a designed annual output of 87,600 mt of ferrochrome is expected to be completed by the end of March.
