SHANGHAI, May 16 (SMM) - Prices of lithium carbonate were stable last week. Supply increased steadily. As end demand has not yet recovered significantly from the pandemic, cathode active material plants placed fewer orders, leaving lithium carbonate constantly in oversupply. Market inquiries picked up slightly, but transactions remained thin. Smelters maintained stable quotations while waiting for downstream demand to recover. Some small and medium-sized smelters and traders kept their offers at low levels. Downstream buyers generally stood on the sidelines. Given the current supply surplus and in the absence of obvious demand recovery, market prices may remain stable or fall slightly.
