A few days ago, China Electric Power Construction Guinea Aluminum Development Project held the first shipment ceremony of bauxite in Vega Port.

Vega Port is the loading and shipping site of bauxite for the State Power Investment Guinea Aluminum Development Project, which is located in Bailai in the middle of the west coast of Guinea, facing the Atlantic Ocean, 210km away from the capital Conakry and 52 km away from the northern port of Kamsa. A 12000-ton berth and offshore barge facilities have been built.

Since the National Electric Investment Aluminum Development Project Department of China Electric Power Construction Guinea Co., Ltd. entered the mine construction on June 11, 2020, the project department has carefully planned, thought ahead and adopted a multi-pronged approach to achieve both camp construction and production progress. In the course of construction, after experiencing the epidemic situation of COVID-19 and the reduction in labor and labor, he remained enthusiastic and scrupulously performed his duties, and faced with problems such as poor environment, lack of materials, communication difficulties, etc., the project team took the initiative to attack, resolved the difficulties, led the unity of the top and bottom, tried every means to ensure production, actively gave full play to the leadership force to consolidate the basic relationship, aimed at the target, took various measures to promote production, and worked hard to promote the progress of the project. At present, a total of 300000 tons of bauxite has been mined and stripped.

The first bauxite shipment demonstrates the spirit of the builders of the third Hydropower Bureau, who are retrograde, dare to take on, overcome difficulties and forge ahead, and work overtime day and night around the "1.30t" target node of 180000 tonnage, which promotes the smooth realization of the first ship shipment. The project department will make unremitting efforts to complete the 2021 production task as soon as possible.

New Aluminum Compound Could Replace Rare Metals, Reducing Costs and Boosting Sustainability
On May 8, scientists at King's College London in the UK developed a powerful new-type aluminum compound whose unique triangular structure endows it with extraordinary stability and reactivity, enabling it to replace expensive rare metals and thereby significantly reduce costs. This discovery is expected to give rise to more environmentally friendly and economical industrial processes, and even create entirely new materials. The related findings were published in the latest issue of *Nature Communications*.

Sichuan-Chongqing UHV AC Reinforcement Project Approved with 15.46 Billion Yuan Investment
Recently, the Sichuan-Chongqing UHV AC reinforcement project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). With a total investment of 15.46 billion yuan, the project will construct two new 1000 kV substations in northern Sichuan and eastern Chongqing, adding 12 million kVA of transformer capacity, and build 2×490 km of 1000 kV double-circuit lines including the Chuanbei–Yudong–Bayue route. It is reported that this project is an important component of the Sichuan-Chongqing UHV AC backbone grid, capable of supporting the integration of the Xinjiang-to-Sichuan/Chongqing DC receiving-end converter stations and electricity consumption. It is also one of the 12 national planned power flexible mutual support projects, which is conducive to enhancing inter-provincial power mutual support, surplus-deficit complementation, and emergency accident assistance capabilities between Sichuan and Chongqing. The project is of great significance for ensuring safe and reliable power supply in our province and supporting the construction of a unified national electricity market.
