SMM: in May, national cement production increased by 8.6% over the same period last year, an increase of 1.4% over the same period last year; commercial concrete output increased by 9.7%, down 4.3%. Flat glass production fell 0.6%, compared with an increase of 6.1% in the same period last year.
From January to May, the national cement output was 768.83 million tons, down 8.2 percent from the same period last year, compared with an increase of 7.1 percent in the same period last year. The output of commercial concrete was 883.28 million cubic meters, down 6.2 percent, compared with an increase of 15.5 percent in the same period last year. The output of flat glass was 383.07 million weight boxes, an increase of 0.5%, and the growth rate was 5.5% lower than the same period last year.
Compared with last month, the price of cement rose slightly, while the price of flat glass fell. In May, the average ex-factory price of cement was 395.6 yuan per ton, up 0.2 per cent from the previous month and down 5.5 per cent from a year earlier. The average ex-factory price of flat glass is 70.6 yuan per weight box, down 4.1% from the previous month and 3.5% from the same period last year.
