SHANGHAI, May 20 (SMM) – TCs of domestic zinc concentrate (50%) held stable at 5,100-5,300 yuan per tonne (zinc content) this past week, and those for imported zinc concentrate (50%) were $110-130 per dry metric tonne (DMT), according to SMM data.
Domestic zinc concentrate TCs should fall in the near term because of ore tightness, SMM says.
SMM understands TCs of domestic zinc concentrate were lowered for some smelters in Inner Mongolia. A few mines in Shaanxi restarted production as zinc prices stabilized around 15,000 yuan per tonne recently. Some mines in Inner Mongolia, most of which are small mines, plan to restart during June-July. But their contribution to spot supply will be limited.
Losses from imported ore remained around 940 yuan per tonne (zinc content) compared with domestic ore this past week, SMM calculates. Trading was rarely made due to limited supply and weak demand.
