[Scrap Price]US Shredded Scrap prices drop to $263 a long ton; US Aluminum scrap prices remain flat

United States shredded scrap prices dropped in the week ended July 17, while US aluminum scrap prices on Scrap Register Price Index stayed almost stable.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States shredded scrap prices dropped in the week ended July 17, while US aluminum scrap prices on Scrap Register Price Index stayed almost stable.

According to TSI, US Midwest shredded index fell $3 a long ton to $263 a long ton (delivered mill) this week. Small pockets of trade were completed late last week, pushing TSI’s index lower.

For Live US Scrap Aluminium Prices Log on to Scrap Register

The flood of bulk exports into Turkey the week could help prices in the US domestic market to stabilize or even strengthen looking ahead to the next round of domestic purchases.

As per Scrap Register Price Index, United States aluminum scrap commodities also showed a flat trend during the week. The scrap prices of 356 Auto Wheels, 5052 Alum Clip, 6061 Alum Extrusion, 6063 10-10 Extrusion, Al/Cu Rad with Iron, Al/Cu Radiator, Alum Breakage 50%, Alum Litho Sheets, Alum Old Sheet traded almost flat during the week.

Trading volume reached 20,000 lots, and open interest stood at 277,000 lots, a decrease of 6,463 lots from the previous trading day, indicating bulls reducing positions. Overnight, the most-traded SHFE copper 2606 contract opened at 104,130 yuan/mt, initially touching a high of 104,170 yuan/mt before the price center shifted lower to a low of 103,390 yuan/mt, ultimately moving sideways to close at 103,670 yuan/mt, down 0.82%. Trading volume reached 31,000 lots, and open interest stood at 143,000 lots, a decrease of 4,124 lots from the previous trading day, indicating bulls reducing positions.
