According to SMM data, silicon metal production in June was 358,400 mt, up 8.2% MoM and up 9.3% YoY. In January-June 2026, cumulative silicon metal production was 1.9903 million mt, up 6% YoY.

In June, silicon metal production rose by 27,000 mt MoM, with the increase mainly coming from Sichuan and Yunnan. However, total production in Sichuan and Yunnan was lower than the same period last year. Among them, Sichuan's output dropped significantly YoY, by around 40%, while Yunnan's output increased YoY due to more large furnaces being put into operation.
In July, silicon metal supply by region is expected to show production increases in south China, while north China remains flat or has slight production cuts. A small number of silicon furnaces in Xinjiang may undergo routine maintenance, which will have a minor impact. With the operating rate picking up during the rainy season, silicon metal production in Yunnan and Sichuan will continue to increase. Overall, silicon metal production in July is expected to increase to above 390,000 mt.
