POSCO Holdings to Demonstrate Direct Lithium Extraction Technology in the U.S.

POSCO Holdings will become the first South Korean company to demonstrate direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology in the United States.

The company announced on June 10 that it signed a cooperation agreement with Australian resource development company Anson Resources to build and operate a DLE demonstration plant in the Green River region of Utah, the United States.

The demonstration plant is scheduled to be completed and begin operations in 2027. POSCO Holdings plans to complete technology validation using actual brine by 2028 and establish a foundation for commercialization.

On June 10, BYD Vice President Li Ke disclosed that the company’s first European plant in Szeged, Hungary, will officially start vehicle assembly production in Q4 of this year, with the first car model to be produced being the compact electric vehicle Seagull Surf. Meanwhile, construction of the previously planned factory in Turkey has been suspended, with no timetable for a restart in the short term, making the Hungary plant the top priority.

On June 10, the China Automobile Dealers Association released the survey results for the "auto dealer inventory" in May 2026: The composite inventory coefficient of auto dealers in May was 1.63, down 13.8% MoM and up 18.1% YoY. Among them, the inventory coefficient for high-end luxury & imported brands was 1.84, down 7.5% MoM; the inventory coefficient for joint venture brands was 2.07, down 7.6% MoM; and the inventory coefficient for Chinese domestic brands was 1.38, down 18.3% MoM.
