Capacity: according to incomplete statistics, China's alkaline electrolyzer market remained at 43.77 GW, and the PEM electrolyzer market remained at 2.7 GW.

This week, Jiangsu Huade Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Huade Hydrogen Energy) completed the production and commissioning of a 100 kW-class PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production system, and the equipment was shipped to Spain;

Shanghai TaiHyChem's independently developed second-generation 1,000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer was delivered and shipped, to be applied in an integrated hydrogen production and refueling station project in Guangdong;

Trina Green Hydrogen's 100 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer integrated unit passed acceptance inspection and was shipped to Europe;

12 sets of 1,200 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzers independently developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Institute were successfully shipped, to be applied in China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical's 100,000 mt/year liquid sunshine project.

Project-related updates:

Heilongjiang Jiayi Rongyuan Green Chemical Co., Ltd.:China Chemistry Tianchen Company signed an EPC general contracting contract with Heilongjiang Jiayi Rongyuan Green Chemical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Jiaze New Energy, for the 300,000 mt green hydrogen-methanol-aviation fuel chemical co-production project in Jidong County, Jixi City, Heilongjiang. The project has a total investment of approximately 3.557 billion yuan and is a key project under the national "dual carbon" strategy. Using agricultural and forestry waste as raw materials, the project adopts biomass gasification and cellulose fermentation technologies, with an annual output of 240,000 mt of green methanol and 80,000 mt of green ethanol, with flexible switching to 50,000 mt/year of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The project plans to commence production by the end of 2027, with annual consumption of agricultural and forestry waste exceeding 1.5 million mt.

Shandong Expressway Service Development Group Co., Ltd.:The bid-winning announcement was released for the PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production and energy storage portion of Phase II of the Gaomi Service Area Hydrogen Refueling Station Comprehensive Utilization Project, with Guofu Hydrogen Energy winning the bid at 23.88 million yuan. The project is part of the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Hydrogen into Homes" demonstration program, constructed by Shandong Expressway Service Development Group, and located in the south area of Gaomi Service Area, aiming to build an integrated PV hydrogen production and hydrogen production-refueling demonstration station. The project comprises three major segments: alkaline hydrogen production, PEM hydrogen production and energy storage, and hydrogen refueling station. Currently, the alkaline hydrogen production segment has been completed and the hydrogen refueling station is under construction. The PEM hydrogen production capacity in this phase is 100 Nm³/h with a rated power of 200 kW, equipped with water electrolysis skids, compressors, hydrogen storage cylinder banks, and control systems. The designed construction period is 120 days, which will improve the green electricity hydrogen production and energy storage facilities at the expressway service area and support the construction of zero-carbon hydrogen expressways.

MCC Wukan Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.:The special concrete pouring work for the hydrogen storage cavern, the core component of China's first rock cavern hydrogen storage project, was successfully completed. The project converts an abandoned mine into a high-pressure rock cavern hydrogen storage chamber, with construction requiring extremely high standards for concrete pouring precision, quality, and safety. During construction, the project team utilized 3D scanning technology to precisely model the cavern space, accurately controlling concrete usage. Meanwhile, fiber optic sensing technology was employed to monitor concrete temperature in real time, implementing temperature control measures and overcoming challenges such as confined working spaces and difficulties in continuous operations, successfully completing the pouring task.

Shanghai Hydrogen Era Technology Co., Ltd.:Renewed cooperation with Guangdong Water Resources and Hydropower, signing the Gansu Jinta 7MW PV off-grid integrated hydrogen production, storage, and transportation demonstration project. Leveraging local wind and solar resources, the project adopts an off-grid model of "PV + hydrogen production + hydrogen storage," building a complete industry chain encompassing PV, hydrogen production, purification, and hydrogen storage, achieving local consumption of green electricity and low-cost large-scale green hydrogen production, and facilitating the development of the green hydrogen industrial cluster in Northwest China. Hydrogen Era provides 1000Nm³/h fully containerized alkaline electrolysis cells and supporting hydrogen storage equipment for this project. The equipment features skid-mounted modular integrated design, offering convenient deployment, reduced footprint, and high intelligence, capable of adapting to wind and solar power generation output fluctuations and ensuring stable operation across a wide load range.

State Power Investment Corporation:The 24th batch of centralized tender in 2026 — announcement of winning bid candidates for the EPC general contracting of the hydrogen production unit of the SPIC Green Energy Lishu wind and solar green hydrogen production coupled with biomass green methanol project. The first winning bid candidate was National Nuclear Power Planning and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd., with a bid price of 204.96 million yuan; the second candidate was Hualu Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd., with a bid price of 177 million yuan. The project is located in the Siping New-type Industrialization Economic Development Zone, Jilin Province, with the owner being Jiyuan (Siping) Green Energy Co., Ltd. The hydrogen production unit is configured with 28 sets of 1000Nm³/h and 1 set of 2000Nm³/h alkaline electrolysis cells, as well as 4 sets of 500Nm³/h PEM electrolysis cells, across 3 hydrogen production plants, with the deadline requiring qualified hydrogen output by August 30, 2027.

Guangdong Yuntao Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd.:Held a cooperation signing ceremony with Nansha Development for "Nansha's First Integrated Energy Station." The Nansha Gangqian Avenue South Integrated Energy Station signed in this ceremony covers an area of approximately 5,400 m², and is expected to be an integrated energy station combining oil, hydrogen, and electricity. It is both Yuntao Hydrogen Energy's first benchmark project in Nansha and the first integrated energy station to be established in the Nansha area.

CIMC Enric Holdings Limited:Hong Kong's first commercial building hydrogen-powered charging station at the Hong Kong and China Gas (Towngas) headquarters building was officially put into operation. The project was jointly developed by CIMC Enric and Hong Kong and China Gas, and was approved by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government. The hydrogen-electric system adopts a dual-skid modular design, with factory prefabrication and rapid on-site connection, suitable for Hong Kong's compact site conditions. The system has a rated power of 25 kW, consuming 1.62 kg of hydrogen per hour. Paired with ESS batteries, it can deliver zero-carbon power supply to meet EV charging and emergency power needs. The entire system is equipped with multi-level safety protection mechanisms, complying with Hong Kong's stringent safety standards. According to calculations, the project consumes approximately 5,000 kg of hydrogen annually, generates 70,000 kWh of electricity, reduces carbon emissions by 39.9 mt per year, equivalent to planting approximately 2,200 trees.

Zhongke Yitan Energy Technology (Urad Houqi) Co., Ltd.:The Urad Houqi 500,000 mt green methanol-to-SAF project completed its filing and was established in the Industrial Park of Urad Houqi, Bayannur City. The project is invested and constructed by Zhongke Yitan Energy Technology (Urad Houqi) Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 6.935 billion yuan. It is expected to produce 500,000 mt of liquid sunshine green methanol annually, with a supporting 150,000 mt/year methanol-to-sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility. The project's core facilities include a 156000 Nm³/h hydrogen production unit, a 180,000 mt/year biomass methanol synthesis unit, a 320,000 mt/year CO₂-plus-green-hydrogen methanol synthesis unit, and supporting facilities.

Xinjiang Yuanchuang Xinyun Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd.:The Yiwu County off-grid integrated wind and solar power hydrogen production comprehensive application demonstration project was included in the second batch of Xinjiang Autonomous Region's local new energy consumption (green electricity direct connection) project list, making it Xinjiang's first off-grid green electricity direct connection project. Located in Yiwu County, Hami City, the project is led by Xinjiang Yuanchuang Xinyun Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd., with a total investment of approximately 2.459 billion yuan. It plans a new energy installed capacity of 690,000 kW, with supporting energy storage of 160,000 kW/320,000 kWh. The project adopts a wind-solar complementary off-grid operation mode, requiring no reliance on the public power grid, achieving self-generated and self-consumed green electricity directly supplied for hydrogen production. Upon completion, the project is expected to produce approximately 30,000 mt of green hydrogen annually, consume 1.65 billion kWh of green electricity, save 500,000 mt of standard coal, and reduce CO₂ emissions by 1.35 million mt. Meanwhile, it will build a closed-loop entire industry chain encompassing wind and solar power generation, green hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and refueling, and hydrogen-powered heavy truck applications, empowering mine transportation and green hydrogen substitution in coal chemical industries, and supporting Yiwu County in building a major hydrogen energy industry hub in northwest China.

Goldwind Green Energy Hydrogen Technology (Xing'an League) Co., Ltd.:The first batch of grid connection power generation was achieved for Phase I of the Xing'an League Goldwind 2 million kW wind power green hydrogen demonstration project, marking a new stage for the new energy industry in Jalaid Banner and launching a new model of deep integration between wind power and green hydrogen industries, injecting strong momentum into local green and low-carbon transformation. As a key local new energy project, it has a total investment of approximately 13.6 billion yuan and is being constructed in three phases, integrating wind power development, green electricity-to-hydrogen production, and green methanol production. Leveraging the region's high-quality wind energy resources, the project innovatively adopts a wind-thermal bundling and green electricity-to-hydrogen model to address the challenge of new energy consumption. Currently, Phase II has commenced construction, and the preliminary procedures for Phase III are being accelerated. Once the project is fully operational, it will produce 90,000 mt of green hydrogen and 560,000 mt of green methanol annually, driving the upgrade of the local new energy industry toward a full value chain with high added value and empowering high-quality development of the green hydrogen economy.

Inner Mongolia Huadian Huayang Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd.:The Inner Mongolia Huadian Damaoqi 1 million kW Wind and Solar Power Hydrogen Production Integration Project issued a tender announcement for technical services on a special study on short-circuit ratio improvement. The project is located in Damaoqi, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia. The first phase plans to build 1 million kW of new energy installed capacity, including 700 MW of wind power and 300 MW of PV, equipped with 70 units of 10 MW wind turbines and using 710-740Wp half-cut double-glass N-type PV modules. The project also includes the construction of a 100MW/200MWh LFP battery ESS power station, two 220 kV step-up substations, and collector lines; it plans to deploy multiple alkaline electrolysis cell hydrogen production systems with an annual green hydrogen production capacity of 47,000 mt, supported by 25 units of 2,000 m³ hydrogen gas spherical tanks with a hydrogen storage capacity of 650,000 standard cubic meters, and a new 220 kV hydrogen production main step-down substation. The tender requires all work to be completed within 45 days from the date of contract signing.

Inner Mongolia Jinkun High-Tech Industry Development Co., Ltd.:The alteration of the hydrogen production equipment standard factory building project of Inner Mongolia Jinkun High-Tech Industry Development Co., Ltd. was officially approved. The project is located in Ge'ertu Village, Jinhe Town, Saihan District, Hohhot City, south of Provincial Road S102 and east of PetroChina Hohhot Petrochemical Company, with a total investment of 2.297 billion yuan. The project covers an area of 346.071 mu, with a total building area of 342,000 m², mainly constructing hydrogen production equipment standard factory buildings, supporting auxiliary facilities, and residential buildings, with a construction period from July 2026 to July 2028.

Zhongqing New Energy (Baotou) Equipment Co., Ltd.:The hydrogen energy equipment high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinder intelligent manufacturing project completed its filing. The project is invested and constructed by Zhongqing New Energy (Baotou) Equipment Co., Ltd., located in Xinguang Fifth Village, Bu'erhantu Town, Kundulun District, Baotou City, with a total investment of 510 million yuan. The project will build a new annual production line of 100,000 sets of hydrogen energy equipment high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinders through intelligent manufacturing, with supporting construction of production workshops, utility engineering facilities, and an R&D and detection center, forming an integrated intelligent manufacturing base for hydrogen storage equipment encompassing R&D, production, and detection. The project plans a construction period from May 2026 to April 2027.

Inner Mongolia Hydrogen Electric Technology Co., Ltd.:The Lateqi power grid-side (incremental distribution network) standalone ESS demonstration project alteration was approved and re-filed. After this adjustment, the total project investment decreased from 194,809,100 yuan to 153,332,000 yuan; the total energy storage capacity was reduced from 8MW/72MWh to 2MW/4MWh; the hydrogen fuel cell power generation systems were reduced from 8 units of 1MW to 2 units of 1MW; the hydrogen storage system working pressure was lowered from 3.2 MPa to 1.6 MPa, the number of hydrogen storage tanks was reduced from 4 to 3, and the hydrogen storage capacity was correspondingly scaled down. The project adds approximately 10 km of pure hydrogen pipelines with an annual hydrogen transmission capacity of 4,000 mt, which will serve industrial users including chemical, metallurgical, and hydrogen refueling station operations in the Dalate Economic Development Zone.

Xi'an Qinchuang Chaoneng Technology Co., Ltd.:The Xi'an 5kW electrolysis hydrogen production test bench procurement project published the shortlisted candidates. Located in Xi'an, Shaanxi, the project plans to procure five 5kW electrolysis hydrogen production test benches, and consortium bidding is not accepted. According to the announcement, the first-ranked candidate was Zhejiang Eryi Technology Co., Ltd. with a bid price of 2.485 million yuan; the second candidate was Yuanchu Zhixin (Suzhou) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. with a bid price of 2.65 million yuan; and the third candidate was Hangzhou Sixie Technology Co., Ltd. with a bid price of 2.98 million yuan.

Policy Review

1 The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the National Energy Administration, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Data Administration issued the Notice on the Action Plan for Promoting Mutual Empowerment between Artificial Intelligence and Energy. The document states that the multi-source power supply capacity of computing facilities should be enhanced. Based on the actual conditions such as the scale of computing facility grid connections, power grid voltage levels, power grid new energy penetration rates, power quality requirements, and computing facility business types, standards for energy supply planning and construction of computing facilities should be established and improved. The use of nuclear power, hydrogen energy, and other energy sources to supply computing facilities through direct connection is to be explored. Computing facilities are encouraged to be equipped with grid-forming ESS to enhance power supply stability and active support capability for the power system.

2 The Ningbo Municipal Energy Bureau released the Public Notice on Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Application Subsidies for Ningbo in 2026. The total subsidies for hydrogen refueling station operations and fuel cell vehicle promotion and application amounted to 20,651,345 yuan.

Enterprise Updates

Guangdong Shengqing Hydrogen Production Equipment Co., Ltd.:Its independently developed large-scale complete alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment was successfully hoisted and installed at the Zhongqing Chikan project.

Fanqing (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd.:Huafeng Co., Ltd. signed an investment cooperation agreement with Fanqing (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., which is a startup high-tech enterprise in China specialising in solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology R&D and industrialisation.

Tianjin Rongcheng Xiangtai Investment Holdings Group Co., Ltd.: The company signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Shanghai Association of Senior Scientists and the Big Data Research Institute of Fudan University. Leveraging Oman's wind and solar power resource endowments and green hydrogen development strategy, the project is set to build an intelligent complex integrating green electricity, green hydrogen, and computing power, accelerating the global deployment of hydrogen energy and artificial intelligence as two major future industries.

Cockerill Group:The installation of four electrolysers for the 25MW HyOffWind green hydrogen project was successfully completed, and the project's first compressor unit has also been positioned on site.

Jiangsu Trina Green Hydrogen Technology Co., Ltd.: Officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Proselyte New Materials Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. The two parties, building on the collaborative development of complete electrolyzers and core parts, seized the opportunities presented by the scaling of the hydrogen energy industry to jointly expand into the green hydrogen energy market.

Liaohe Petroleum Exploration Bureau Co., Ltd. Liaohe Petrochemical Branch: The 8,000 Nm³/h hydrogen-rich gas hydrogen recovery unit constructed under the Huajin project successfully completed its intermediate handover. It was reported that this major maintenance campaign at Liaohe Petrochemical covered four core units: a 600,000 mt/year catalytic cracking unit, a 160,000 mt/year gas fractionation unit, a 600,000 mt/year continuous reforming unit, and an 8,000 Nm³/h hydrogen-rich gas hydrogen recovery unit. During the maintenance period, a total of 16 heat exchange equipment units, 44 vessels, 36 valves (repaired), and 80 valves (replaced) were completed, along with 502 fixed-torque fastening points. Additionally, 11 electrical and instrumentation maintenance tasks were completed, with all maintenance work progressing steadily.

Shanhai Hydrogen (Shanghai) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.: Completed an angel round of financing worth tens of millions of yuan, exclusively invested by CAS Star. The funds from this round will primarily be used for the construction of a GW-scale membrane electrode assembly production line, supporting catalyst R&D and production, and market expansion. Shanhai Hydrogen was founded by Professor Zhang Bo of Fudan University, focusing on the full-chain in-house R&D and production of PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production catalysts and membrane electrode assemblies.

Patent Applications

1. Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China) published patent CN2025110028, developing a ceramic-based anion exchange membrane with a laboratory-tested lifespan of 80,000 hours.

2. Johnson Matthey (UK) filed patent WO2025109876, disclosing a ternary Fe-Ni-Mo non-precious metal catalyst formulation with activity approaching that of platinum-based materials.

Technology Footprint/Technical Specifications

1. The high specific power cathode-closed air-cooled stack technology developed by the team of Academician Chen Zhongwei and Associate Researcher Zhang Meng at the National Key Laboratory of Energy Catalytic Conversion, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, passed the scientific and technological achievement evaluation by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. This technology effectively resolved the industry-wide conflict between water retention and oxygen mass transfer in air-cooled fuel cells, addressing technical challenges such as low-humidity performance degradation, carbon corrosion, membrane drying and flooding, and high-power thermal management.

2. Two group standards on water electrolysis hydrogen production were officially released and implemented: the "Safety Technical Specification for Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Production" and the "Calculation Method for Economic Operation Indicators of Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Production."

3. Petronor collaborated with H2SITE to advance membrane technology for hydrogen production, enhancing high-purity hydrogen supply and low-carbon efficiency in refining.

4. Dalian University of Technology designed an electron pump catalyst with an asymmetric photo-responsive structure, maintaining the asymmetry of electron distribution.

5. Research teams from the School of Electrical Engineering and the State Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Power Equipment at Xi'an Jiaotong University successfully developed a Ru/Ti3C2Ox@NF bifunctional electrocatalyst for seawater electrolysis.
