[SMM Steel] India-Oman FTA to take effect from June 1

[SMM Steel] India’s commerce minister announced that the India-Oman free trade agreement (FTA), signed in December 2025, will officially come into effect on June 1, 2026. The agreement is expected to boost bilateral trade by granting duty-free access to nearly 98% of India’s exports to Oman. India also said it is negotiating with Chile to upgrade their existing trade pact into a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

[SMM Steel] US sets preliminary 8.45% dumping margin on Mexican rebar producer Deacero Group

[SMM Steel] The US Department of Commerce (USDOC) preliminarily determined that Mexico’s Deacero Group sold rebar in the US below fair market value during the review period from Nov. 1, 2023 to Oct. 31, 2024. USDOC assigned the group a weighted-average dumping margin of 8.45%. Reviews for Grupo Acerero, Grupo Simec, and Sidertul were canceled after customs data showed no shipments during the review period. Final results are expected within 120 days.
