[SMM PV News] India’s Enlight Metals Starts Production of 550 MPa High-Strength Solar Mounting Structures

Published: Apr 13, 2026 17:19
Pune-based metal aggregator Enlight Metals has commenced the production of solar mounting structures using a contract manufacturing model. Its initial portfolio features roll-formed components like C-channels and Z-sections made from AZ150/180/200 Galvalume steel with yield strengths exceeding 550 MPa, designed for utility-scale project lifecycles of over 25 years. Leveraging a strategic manufacturing network in Pune, Raipur, and Faridabad, the company optimizes logistics while integrating AI-driven demand forecasting to minimize material waste. Moving forward, Enlight Metals plans to expand into cable trays and PEB components to strengthen its role as a comprehensive infrastructure solutions provider in India.

[SMM PV News] EU’s First Cross-Border Financed Solar Project Becomes Operational in Finland
The 20 MW Loukkaanaro solar park in Utajärvi, Finland, has become the first project commissioned under the EU Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism (RENEWFM). This project exemplifies cross-border cooperation, with Luxembourg providing funding for a project hosted by Finland. The facility received a €2.35 million grant toward its total €10 million cost. Billed as the largest solar park in northern Finland, it features 30,000 panels and is expected to cover 4% of the region’s annual electricity consumption. CINEA noted that the project is a vital milestone for utility-scale solar in northern climates, providing essential operational data on the impacts of snow and freezing temperatures on energy yield.

[SMM PV News] QCIL Signs 30 MW Solar PPA to Decarbonize Healthcare Facilities Across India
Quality Care India Ltd (QCIL), a top Indian healthcare platform, has partnered with AMPIN Energy and Radiance Renewables to procure solar power for five facilities across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. Under a Group Captive model, this initiative marks the first phase of a broader plan to transition 19 hospitals—including CARE Hospitals and KIMS Health—to renewable energy. QCIL is targeting a total renewable capacity of 30 MW, with the initial 6 MWp phase expected to reduce carbon emissions by 8,000 tonnes annually and cut electricity costs by approximately 20%. In the long term, the group aims to meet 80% of its energy needs through a hybrid model combining solar, wind, and battery storage (BESS).

Swedish consultancy AFRY has been appointed Owner’s Engineer for a 36 MWp solar PV and 10 MW/40 MWh BESS project at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Developed under Malaysia's SELCO program, the facility is expected to generate 46 GWh annually and offset 35,000 tonnes of CO2. As one of the nation's early large-scale self-consumption solar plants equipped with storage, the project will enhance energy reliability for the airport hub. AFRY's scope includes design review, project management, and BESS commissioning.
