According to SMM and market communication, the overall holiday schedule for copper pipe & tube enterprises during the 2025 Chinese New Year remains the same as in 2024. A few large enterprises have slightly shortened the holiday duration at some of their bases, while small enterprises in South China have slightly extended their holiday period. Compared to the overall order performance in the month of the 2024 Chinese New Year, there was an increase. Copper pipe & tube factories indicated that the orders were still supported by strong exports of air conditioner pipes driven by the household appliance sector.

According to ChinaIOL, from January to March 2025, China's household air conditioner production schedule was 17.14 million, 14.40 million, and 24.98 million units, respectively, with YoY changes of -1.5%, +22.6%, and +14.5%. For domestic sales, the production schedule was 7.24 million, 6.69 million, and 13.9 million units, respectively, with YoY changes of -1.1%, +10.2%, and +12.5%. For exports, the production schedule was 9.90 million, 7.71 million, and 11.08 million units, respectively, with YoY changes of +10.1%, +23.3%, and +10.0%, continuing the previous trend of rapid growth.
Based on the air conditioner production schedule, it can be observed that medium and large enterprises experienced rush-to-meet-deadlines situations with production holidays ranging from 0 to 3 days. Additionally, some copper pipe & tube enterprises also had export orders for copper pipes & tubes. Compared to the 2024 Chinese New Year period, the order increase ranged from 1% to 5% YoY; small and medium-sized enterprises remained mostly unchanged from last year. In January 2025, the operating rate of copper pipe & tube enterprises is expected to be 73.38%, down 9.56 percentage points MoM, but up 1.89 percentage points YoY.
