**Quick News: Zigong Seeks Opinions on Introducing a "20GWh Annual Sodium-ion Battery Cell R&D and Production Base Project"**

On October 22, 2024, the Zigong High-tech Industrial Development Zone Administrative Committee issued a public announcement seeking opinions on the introduction of the "20GWh Annual Sodium-ion Battery Cell R&D and Production Base Project". The project covers an area of approximately 500 mu (around 33 hectares) with a total investment plan of approximately RMB 8.8 billion, of which RMB 2.8 billion will be used for working capital and research and development, and RMB 6 billion will be allocated for fixed asset investments. The project plans to construct a 20GWh/year sodium-ion battery cell and a 10GWh/year PACK production line, which will be implemented in stages and batches. Upon completion of the first phase of the project and reaching full production capacity, it will achieve a production capacity of 10GWh/year of sodium-ion battery cells and 5GWh/year of PACKs, with an expected annual sales revenue of approximately RMB 3 billion and tax revenue of RMB 90 million.
