【SMM Analysis】June Adds 1.2GW！U.S. Energy Storage Installations Surge

Recently released, the EIA's data for the United States in June 2024 shows a significant increase in new energy storage installations in the U.S., reaching 4.2 gigawatts (GW). This achievement represents a 150.5% increase compared to the same period last year and has surpassed the total new installations of 4.17 GW for the year 2022. June marked the peak growth, with new installations for the month alone reaching 1.2 GW, an increase of 36.8% year-over-year and 15.1% month-over-month. In June, 10 new projects were successfully connected to the grid, with Texas contributing 4 projects totaling 427.7 megawatts (MW); California contributed 2 projects totaling 270.0 MW; Colorado and Arizona each contributed 1 and 3 projects, respectively, with capacities of 11.8 MW and 525.0 MW.

When looking at the data on a quarterly basis, the new energy storage installations in the U.S. for Q2 totaled 2.99 GW, showing a substantial increase of 143.1% year-over-year and 142.1% quarter-over-quarter. These figures highlight the rapid development of energy storage technology applications in the U.S. and further demonstrate the overall strong growth momentum of the energy storage industry.
