China Economic News Network, June 30, 2024 - The first lifting of the steel column for the lead slag blending bin of the 600,000 tons/year lead and zinc smelting project of Baoye Xinjiang Huo Shao Yun in Shanghai has been completed.

Located in Hetian Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the project covers an area of 999,287 square meters with a total construction area of 390,000 square meters. The construction content includes the construction of a new smelting system with an annual capacity of 560,000 tons of zinc and 110,000 tons of lead, mainly including lead-zinc oxide ore volatilization and enrichment system, hydrometallurgy zinc smelting system, lead slag smelting system, flue gas acid production and flue gas desulfurization system, etc. This project is a key project in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with ore raw materials coming from Xinjiang Huo Shao Yun Lead-Zinc Mine, which is the largest mine in China and the sixth largest in the world. The total construction period is 366 days. After completion, the project will become the world's largest lead-zinc oxide ore smelting project with an annual output, capable of processing about 2.5 million tons of lead-zinc ore annually, producing 560,000 tons of zinc metal and 110,000 tons of lead metal.
