SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 30.12 million mt last week, an increase of 1.6% week-on-week. The shipments from Australia declined 5.3% on a weekly basis to 17.40 million mt, of which 15.19 million mt or 87.3% went to China, up 0.5%. The shipments from Brazil fell 0.4% on a weekly basis to 5.64 million mt, of which 2.1 million mt or 37.2% went to China, down 40.8%.
The four major mining companies shipped a combined 16.82 million mt of iron ore last week, a drop of 390,000 mt from a week earlier.
In terms of varieties, the total shipment volume of the four varieties this week was 29.64 million tons, an increase of 590,000 tons from a week earlier.
A total of 24.30 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, down 2.6% week-on-week.
In terms of varieties, the total arrival volume of the four varieties this week was 24.29 million tons, a decrease of 670,000 tons from the previous week.
