[SMM maintenance of steel mills: BF maintenance-induced pig iron output loss may hike in August, compared with July]

According to SMM research, July witnessed maintenance of 24 BFs and restart of 11 BFs. On the whole, BF maintenance-induced pig iron production loss was 4.3909 million mt, up 1.2109 million mt from June. There will be maintenance of one BF in August, leading to 4,300 mt of daily pig iron output loss, and restart of 7 BFs, leading to 32,000 mt of daily pig iron output increase. In addition, some steel mills started maintenance at the end of July. BF maintenance-induced pig iron output loss will be 4.837 million mt in August, up 446,100 mt. Therefore, pig iron output in August will keep shrinking.
