China Shipbuilding Industry Association: In the first half of the year, the national shipbuilding completion volume was 21.13 million dead weight tonnage (DWT), an increase of 14.2% year-on-year

According to the China Shipbuilding Industry Association, from January to June 2023, the national shipbuilding completion volume was 21.13 million DWT, a year-on-year increase of 14.2%. Among them, sea-going ships accounted for 20.97 million DWT (7.44 million compensated gross tonnes, CGT). New orders received were 37.67 million DWT, a year-on-year increase of 67.7%, of which sea-going ships accounted for 37.38 million DWT (15.37 million CGT). As of the end of June, the number of orders in hand was 123.77 million DWT, a year-on-year increase of 20.5%, of which 123.34 million DWT (55.26 million CGT) was for sea-going vessels, and 92.8% of the total was exported.
