MFA Russia Spokeswoman: US Avoids Debt Default by Raising Debt Ceiling is Irresponsible

Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (MFA Russia) said on May 10 that the US has faced the risk of defaulting on its debt more than once before and that it has always responded by raising the debt ceiling, which has become a US-style practice. Zakharova pointed out that the uncontrolled issuance of US dollars and the constant raising of the debt ceiling are irresponsible and have led to inflation in the US and global markets, shaken the US financial and banking system and increased the risk to the global economy.
