SHANGHAI, May 11 (SMM) - SMM’s statistics as of May 4 showed that 10 blast furnaces are expected to be resumed in May and another eight will be overhauled. Overseas supply will gradually recover in May, and overseas mines will probably ramp up shipments to achieve their half-year goals. Therefore, SMM expects iron ore imports to pick up in May.
Customs data showed China’s iron ore import volume in April was 90.44 million mt, down 9.8% MoM.
China imported 385 million mt of iron ore in the first four months of this year, an increase of 8.6% YoY.
