Capacity Utilisation Rate of Iron Ore Mines in Shanxi Drops

SHANGHAI, Mar 7 (SMM) - Capacity utilisation rate of iron ore mines in Shanxi dropped mainly owing to less working days in February and production cuts amid the “Two Sessions” and the integration and reorganisation of mineral resources. On February 9, the Shanxi Provincial Department of Emergency Management issued the Notice on Carrying out Special Rectification of Safety Production in Metal and Nonmetal Mine from Open Pit to Shaft Mining. As far as iron ore enterprises are concerned, only one independent production system within the scope of a mining license is allowed. The specific requirements are that the minimum production scale of underground mining is not less than 600,000 mt per year, and the minimum production scale of open-pit mining is not less than 1.2 million mt per year.
