According to customs data, China's polysiloxane exports in May 2022 were 47,300 mt, up 16% month on month and 55% year on year. Exports totalled 216,600 mt from Jaunary to May, an increase of 59% year on year. China's polysiloxane imports in May 2022 were 8,000 mt, down 2% month on month and 26% year on year. The imports totalled 42,000 mt from January to May, down 32% year on year.
With the increase in the proportion of domestic organosilicone production capacity in the world, China’s organosilicone exports will remain much larger than imports. In terms of exports, the export volume of organosilicone in May increased by nearly 6,500 mt MoM to a record high of 47,300 mt, mainly because the resumption of work and production in Shanghai in May which enabled the backlog goods to be delivered as Shanghai Port is one of the main ports for China’s organosilicone exports. In addition, with the continuous release of new domestic organosilicone production capacity, more products will be introduced to overseas users in order to ease the supply. In terms of imports, the import volume of organosilicone in May was stable on the month, and the unit price of imports was $9,961/mt, mainly for high-end organosilicone products.
In June, the export volume of organosilicone is expected to drop month-on-month amid the sluggish market and the weak price competitiveness compared with foreign brands, while the import volume is expected to remain unchanged month-on-month.
