China's New Energy Lithium Battery, Lithium Battery Materials and Recycling Output in April 2022

Battery: In April, China's NMC battery output stood at 12.6 GWh, down 27% MoM and up 55% YoY; LFP battery output at 20.6 GWh, down 18% MoM and up 210% YoY. On the supply side, logistics issue along with the significant fall of battery output because of the wide fluctuations of raw material prices. On the demand side, battery demand decreased sharply due to the lockdown in Shanghai, as the core position of whole vehicle industry chain . And the same story happened in digital market, high raw material prices have restrained demand.

Anode: The domestic output of anode material stood at 101,500 mt in April, up 15% on the month and 69% on the year. With the weather warming up and the end of environmental inspections, the supply of natural graphite market kept rising. And it is expected that total capacity will be released in the Q2 and Q3. The lockdown in regions of China restrained the demand for anodes and reached a balance between supply and demand currently. But from a forward perspective, as the strong demand for power battery and energy storage will continue to support the rapid expansion of the anode market, the supply of anode will still be in the shortage.
