Recently, the project "Research and Development and Application of High performance Titanium Alloy Tubes used in harsh Environmental Energy well drilling", which is headed by Feng Chun of Engineering Materials Research Institute of China National Petroleum Corporation, has been approved as the national key R & D plan "Advanced structure and Composite Materials" key project in 2021.
As the first national key R & D project related to titanium alloy pipe in the field of oil and gas drilling and production in China, this project revolves around the great demand for titanium alloy pipe in the national energy drilling and production project. work will be carried out from three aspects: basic research, common key technologies and application demonstration to develop a complete set of technologies for the manufacture of high-performance titanium alloy drill pipes and oil casing pipes. Overcome the key technical problems such as the manufacture and connection of special threaded joints, the evaluation and application of pipe applicability, establish a complete application evaluation system and related standards, and realize stable industrial production and engineering demonstration application, it lays a foundation for the comprehensive application of domestic high-performance titanium alloy drilling and production pipes in major strategic projects such as deep oil and gas and combustible ice in China. It also provides technical support for realizing the lightweight of pipe string and creating a strategic replacement area for onshore ultra-ultra-deep oil and gas exploration. The total cost of the project is 91.3 million yuan, and the central government budget is 23 million yuan, with an implementation period of 4 years. Led by the Engineering Materials Research Institute of China National Petroleum Corporation, in conjunction with 9 domestic units, including Baoji Titanium Industry Co., Ltd., Northwest Nonferrous Metals Research Institute, Tianjin Steel Pipe Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Central South University, the whole chain R & D and collaborative innovation are carried out under the framework of "industry-learning-research-inspection-use".
Feng Chun said that the implementation of the project will break through the main technical bottlenecks in the design, manufacture, inspection, evaluation and application of high-performance titanium alloy pipes in China's harsh environmental energy well drilling, and form a complete technology system of the whole industry chain. we will enhance the level of processing technology in China's titanium industry and the drilling and production capacity of the energy industry to meet the major strategic needs of the country.
