In the second round, the second batch of central eco-environmental protection inspectors made solid progress while supervising and reforming the work.

With the approval of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, from August 30 to October 1, 2020, the second round of central eco-environmental protection inspectors successfully completed the stationing of inspectors in three provinces (cities), including Beijing, Tianjin and Zhejiang, and two central enterprises, namely, Aluminum Corporation of China (Chinalco) and China Building Materials Group Co., Ltd., and carried out supervision pilot projects in two departments of the State Energy Administration and the State Forestry and Steppe Administration.

During the period of supervision, the supervision groups attached great importance to the handling of the reporting of letters and visits by the masses, and urged the objects under supervision to establish a mechanism, set up reforms, strengthen openness, and be held accountable in accordance with the law. Efforts should be made to ensure that the problem of complaints about the ecological environment can be solved in a timely manner. Each inspection group received a total of 15536 reports (of which 7772 were reported by calls and 7764 by letters), and accepted 12030 valid reports (of which 6150 were reported by calls and 5880 by letters). After combing and analyzing and combining repeated reports, a total of 10558 reports were handed over to the subject under supervision. As of January 25, 2021, 8766 cases have been completed, 1792 cases have been completed in stages, 5442 houses have been ordered to rectify and reform, 2204 cases have been placed on file, and 2204 cases have been investigated and dealt with, with a penalty amount of about 182.1333 million yuan, 131cases placed on file for investigation, 130people in administrative detention, 113people in criminal detention, 872people in criminal detention and 283people held accountable.

Through supervision and reform, a large number of eco-environmental problems have been investigated and solved, which plays an important role in strengthening the responsibility of eco-environmental protection, transmitting the pressure of eco-environmental protection, establishing a long-term mechanism, and creating an atmosphere of supervision.
