SMM News: a few days ago, Yunnan Power Grid Company's first fully prefabricated intelligent low-voltage distribution room was put into operation in Hongta District, Yuxi City. The intelligent power distribution demonstration project put into operation this time is the second group intelligent station area of 10kV Renjing in Hongta District, Yuxi City, which is the first intelligent station area built according to the intelligent distribution V3.0 standard in Yunnan power grid.

The project is built according to the module of "fully insulated platform + prefabricated low voltage distribution room". It is the first and only demonstration project built by Yunnan Power Grid Company to adopt this standard, through measurement and control terminals, cameras, all kinds of sensors, etc., to realize the state detection of platform transformer equipment and real-time monitoring of the environment, which is a new type of intelligent and visual platform transformer.

In recent years, with the goal of building a "safe, efficient, reliable and green" smart grid, Yunnan Power Grid Company has accelerated the construction of smart grid demonstration areas. Through the construction of smart station demonstration projects, it has realized unified real-time data collection, unified management and unified sharing of all kinds of terminal data in power grid production and management, and increased the configuration of five major functions: equipment condition monitoring, electrical protection measurement and control, video surveillance, environmental monitoring and security monitoring. It realizes the perception, interconnection, edge computing optimization and prediction of the equipment, which is of great significance to strengthen the intelligent patrol maintenance and user side management.

The construction of smart Taiwan demonstration projects will further improve the level of smart grid construction and operation, and effectively support users' growing demand for highly reliable power supply and high-level services.

Explosion at Kazzinc Metallurgical Site in Kazakhstan Leaves Two Dead and Five Injured

On May 5th, according to Reuters, an explosion occurred at Kazzinc’s site. Kazzinc said that it occurred during cleaning work on a smoke extraction system, followed by a fire and partial structural collapse. So far, emergency ministry said the fire had been extinguished. Kazzinc, owned by Glencore, has an annual production of roughly 250-300 kt of zinc, 100-150 kt of lead and around 87.5 kt of copper cathode. Kazzinc hasn't disclosed the specific impact. Based on currently available information, the incident mainly involved smoke extraction/dust-collection equipment, may cause temporary disruption to related operations. There is no evidence so far that the main zinc electrowinning line was damaged. Further updates needed on the scope of any cuts or suspensions and the repair timeline.
