SMM10, March 16: recently, Vale released its third quarter financial report, in the third quarter of 2019, the total output of manganese ore was 443kt, 39.3% higher than in the second quarter of 2019. The increase represents a gradual return to normal production levels following operational improvements and maintenance of the Urucum mine in the second quarter of 2019.
Manganese ore sales reached 150 kilotons in the third quarter of 2019, an increase of 63.0 percent over the second quarter of 2019 and largely recovered from the weather-related anomalies faced by the port of (Ponta da Madeira) in Madeira in the previous quarter.
Total ferroalloy production in the third quarter of 2019 was 40 kilotons, the same as in the second quarter of 2019. Ferroalloy sales totaled 29 kilotons in the second quarter of 19, down 25.6 percent from the second quarter of 2019, mainly due to a temporary decline in domestic customer demand after a long period of downtime and maintenance.
