Japanese H2 scrap average prices drop further in second week of March

The average price of Japanese H2 scrap declined further during the second week of March this year.

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): The average price of Japanese H2 scrap declined further during the second week of March this year. This is the twelfth straight week of decline for H2 scrap average prices in the country.
 
The average price of Japan H2 scrap in Kanto, Central and Kansai region was ¥ 22,968/ton during the second week of March. The prices edged lower by ¥ 241/ton from the previous week. The prices had averaged at ¥ 23,209/ton during the first week of March.
 
The average price of H2 scrap in Kanto region was ¥ 23,333/ton. The average price in Kanto region dropped sharply by ¥ 600/ton when compared with the previous week.
 
The average H2 scrap price in Central region was ¥ 21,320/ton. The average prices in the region held steady when compared with the previous week.
 
The H2 scrap average prices declined in Kansai regions. The average price of H2 scrap in Kansai region during the second week of March was ¥ 24,250/ton, down by ¥ 125/ton when compared with the previous week.

As galvanized steel is the largest end-use sector for zinc, the measures directly affect export costs and competitiveness, potentially impacting Australia’s domestic zinc demand and supply chain. Maintaining the duties would provide some protection for domestic steel and coating capacity, while termination could increase low-priced imports and affect regional zinc consumption. The final outcome remains subject to the authorities’ determination.
