Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Recently, Autowise.ai, a Chinese company focusing on research and development in artificial intelligence and autonomous driving technology, has been officially granted the functional autonomous driving license in Shenzhen, China, marking its first such license in the city and a significant milestone in its expansion within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to a post via Autowise.ai's WeChat account on August 14.

Autowise.ai stated that as of now, it had secured road rights in three first-tier cities of China — Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing — along with five new first-tier cities of China, including Hangzhou, Suzhou, Changsha, Hefei, and Wuxi, forming an expansive network across China's key urban centers.

Shenzhen, a leading hub of technological innovation in China, has stringent regulations for the approval of autonomous driving technology. To obtain this road-use permit, Autowise.ai's autonomous vehicle underwent rigorous validation across multiple scenarios. In closed environments, the full-stack self-developed autonomous driving sweeper Autowise V3 passed over a hundred tests, including simulations, site tests, cybersecurity assessments, and third-party inspections, proving its stability and compliance. On open urban roads, the vehicle utilizes a multimodal perception system and intelligent decision-making algorithms to perform a range of tasks, such as autonomous start-stop, precise edge cleaning, comprehensive coverage cleaning, obstacle avoidance, garbage dumping, adaptive cleaning, and dynamic obstacle identification.

The Autowise V3 has already been operational in multiple districts of Shenzhen city, covering major roads, secondary roads, and narrow streets.

In real-world operations, the Autowise V3 demonstrates remarkable efficiency, operating for over six hours daily with a daily mileage of up to 72 kilometers. It serves these areas in Shenzhen, including Nanshan and Taoyuan streets in Nanshan District, Huangbei and Dongxiao streets in Luohu District, Haishan Street in Yantian District, and Lianhua Street in Futian District.

In terms of performance, a single Autowise V3 can work for five consecutive hours on a single charge, sweeping an area of 10,800 square meters per hour — equivalent to the size of 10 standard swimming pools. Its operational output matches that of 2-4 manual sweepers, achieving a 6-7 times increase in efficiency over human labor. This enhanced efficiency directly reduces operational costs, leading to a 40% reduction in the overall cost for operators.

With the strong support of favorable policies for the smart connected vehicle industry nationwide, Autowise.ai will continue to leverage core cities like Shenzhen as key bases, driving the large-scale growth of L4 autonomous driving technology.
